Tongan Tapa Digital Art 18×18

Hello everybody, this week is Tongan Language Week. We have been learning different things about the Tongan culture. We also made Tongan Tapa on a google drawings. I used the curve tool to make flax for my patterns. I then colored the flax green and add lines on them to make it stand out more.

I selected a box and changed it to a custom gradient, that way I can create a triangle to draw my pattern. I found this activity fun because I like creating digital stuff. This task was a little bit hard at the beginning because it was my first time doing digital art.

Central Interceptor

Hello everybody, today we had 3 people from Central Interceptor explaining the new sewage tunnels being built. After watching a video showing how Hiwa-i-te-Rangi the drill worked, we split into 3 groups and did different activities. 1. looking at how rain water is affected by pollution. 2. how gravity will help the tunnel take used water to the plant. 3. The VR goggles and puzzle. I found this

Central Intercepter

The Central Intercepter is a tunnel that takes waste water to the Magere Sewage Plant.

The tunnel is going to be 14.7km and 15m below the ground. It is estimated to last 100 years. It will take 5 years to build and it would also cost 1.2 billion New Zealand Dollars

The drill is 190 metres long and it is named after the Matariki star Hiwa-i-te-rangi. The width of the tunnel is going to be as big as 4 rhinos and the height is 1 giraffe. Our old tunnel couldn’t handle all the waste water. The water waste is bad for our oceans so we are making the Central Interceptor bigger.

Creating Graphs

Hello everybody, this week in Kowhai we have been learning how to interpret data from graphs we have made. First we gathered information in our maths books. We practiced creating a bar graph, pie chart, and a tally chart.

We then put the information in to a google sheets. We did a quick test to gather a range of  numbers.

I found this task a little but fun at the same time challenging because I messed up a few times but I finally did it correctly. I liked creating the graphs, it was fun. I’m looking forward to create more graphs in the future.

EMR – Experience Marine Reserves

This week on Wednesday our school had EMR. EMR stands for Experience Marine Reserves which where we learn things about water. The activities were fun and we learned a lot of things about water, the ocean and how plastic is affecting our planet. Here is some photos of the activities we have done.

Cross Country – WALHT pace ourselves

WALHT pace ourselves. Helloo everybody, last Monday and Tuesday our school went to War Memorial Park to practice for the upcoming cross country. On Monday, I didn’t go because I had gardening and on Tuesday I jogged half of it and the other half I walked. Today was suppose to be the day of cross country but I’m happy that it is raining because I didn’t want to run.

Thinkers Key – ABC

Hello everybody, yesterday in class we were doing our thinkers key and the topic was about water. We had to find words about water to match letters in the alphabet. This task was a little difficult because we don’t know every word that is water related in the alphabet but it is good to learn something new once in a while. I learned new words that is water related such as precipitation, condensation, stream and more.

Kowhai Report and Image

Helloo everybody, me and my class has been researching and have been making a kowhai image in google drawings. This task was easy because I just need to get the colors and use the polyline tool and trace it.

The Kowhai tree is native to New Zealand. Kowhai trees

has ripe yellow seeds and has bright yellow flowers. The Kowhai tree can grow up to 25 meters and its wood is durable. It has small leaves and the bird Tui eats the nectar. The Kowhai tree symbolizes personal growth, sense of adventure and the ability to move on.

Tables Angles

Hello and welcome to my blog. So on Monday, I walked into class and I saw tape on every table. I thought we were going to do art, then Mrs Mundy explained that we are going to identify what angles are on the table and we have to find the degree of each angle. I learned how to measure angles using a protractor and angles that are opposite is the same. Usually our teacher never lets us draw on the table so this task was fun. I would like more practice with measuring angles because I still get some answers wrong because of my accuracy.
